How to determine whether the drone battery is overheated

During the preheating process of the battery, accurately determining whether overheating has occurred is a key step to ensure the safety and performance of the battery. Here are some common methods:

Monitor the temperature of the battery in real-time

The temperature of the battery can be monitored in real-time through a battery management system (BMS) or a specialized temperature monitoring device. Because BMS are usually equipped with a high-precision temperature sensor, they can accurately reflect the battery's temperature. Once it's exceeds the safe range set by the manufacturer, it is judged to be overheated.

Observe the appearance of the battery

Although this method can not reflect temperature data directly like temperature monitoring, it can provide some clues because the overheated battery is usually accompanied by the appearance of abnormal conditions such as shell deformation, expansion, discoloration, or odor. Once these phenomena are found, stop preheating and check the battery status immediately.

Pay attention to the battery's performance changes

This is because battery overheating is usually reflected in battery performance, such as slower charging speed, shorter discharge time, and unstable voltage. Therefore, during the preheating process, you should pay close attention to the battery's performance, which may be a signal of internal damage or excessive temperature of the battery.

Follow instructions and preheating recommendations provided by the manufacturer

Different brands and models of batteries may have different preheating requirements and limitations on preheating temperatures. During the preheating process, the user manual and preheating recommendations provided by the manufacturer should be strictly followed to avoid affecting the preheating effect or even causing damage to the battery.

Through the above method, it can effectively determine whether the battery is over-heated during the preheating process, and avoid further damage.
