How to maintain motorcycle lithium-ion batteries?

Jul 25, 2025 Leave a message

Below we will talk about the maintenance tips of motorcycle lithium batteries in a simple and practical way.

1. Avoid long-term power loss

Lithium batteries are most afraid of being out of power for a long time. If the vehicle is not used for a long time, the battery is easily damaged after being discharged to 0.

Suggestion:

Keep 40%-70% power before storage and store in a dry and cool place.

When parked for a long time, recharge once every 1-2 months to avoid deep discharge.

2. Charge moderately

Although most lithium batteries have BMS battery management systems, overcharging will still increase the burden on the battery and accelerate aging.

Suggestion:

Disconnect the power supply in time after full charge.

Use original or high-quality chargers to avoid damage caused by inferior equipment.

3. Pay attention to the storage temperature

The life of lithium batteries will be greatly shortened in extremely high or low temperature environments.

Suggestion:

Avoid leaving the battery in a garage or open air environment exposed to high temperature for a long time.

In winter, when the temperature is low, you can preheat the motorcycle appropriately before starting it to reduce the burden on the battery.

4. Avoid frequent high-current discharge

Frequent rapid acceleration and high-power modified equipment will cause the battery to overload and shorten its life.

Suggestions:

Drive reasonably and avoid frequent high-current output.

If you need high power, you can choose a customized battery that supports high output.

5. Regular inspection

Check the battery frequently for abnormalities such as bulging, leakage, poor contact, etc.

If there is any problem, contact a professional for repair or replacement in time to ensure safe use.
