What certifications are required for jump starters?

1. What is UN38.3 certification?

UN38.3 is a lithium battery transportation safety test. As long as there is a lithium battery in the product, whether it is shipped by air, sea or express, this certification is required.

What is it mainly for?

Test whether the battery will have problems under conditions such as high temperature, low pressure, vibration, collision, short circuit, etc.

2. What is the MSDS report?

MSDS stands for Chemical Safety Data Sheet, which mainly describes the composition, hazardous characteristics, operation methods and emergency treatment of the product.

Why is it needed?

Freight forwarders, airlines or customs often require MSDS to be provided together to confirm that the product is compliant.

3. What is CE certification?

CE is a mandatory certification for the EU market, indicating that the product meets the EU's safety, health and environmental protection requirements.

What should I pay attention to?

If you plan to export to Europe, CE certification is a must.

4. What is RoHS certification?

RoHS is the EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive, which stipulates that products cannot contain excessive amounts of harmful substances such as lead, mercury, and cadmium.

Why is it important?

Many customers, especially those doing e-commerce or brands, have high requirements for environmental protection, and products without RoHS may be rejected or returned.

5. FCC certification (for the US market)

FCC is a certification of the Federal Communications Commission of the United States. If your jump starter has electromagnetic wave interference (such as wireless function), you must have FCC certification.

What is the function?

It means that your product will not cause harmful interference to other electronic devices.

6. Other optional certifications

In addition to the above, some customers or regions will also require:

PSE certification (Japanese market)

KC certification (Korean market)

IEC62133 (lithium battery safety standard required in some regions)

UL certification (some North American customers will value it)

Summary:

For wholesale or export of jump starters, common necessary certifications are:

✅ UN38.3

✅ MSDS

✅ CE

✅ RoHS

✅ FCC
