How to use a car jump starter safely?

Jul 31, 2025 Leave a message

1. Read the instructions first

Before using a jump starter, be sure to read the instructions that came with the device.

2. Check the jump starter

Make sure the jump starter is fully charged. If the battery is low, it may not provide enough power to start your car.

3. Turn off all power in your car

Turn off your car's ignition, lights, radio, and all other electronic devices. This reduces the load on the car when starting and ensures your safety.

4. Connect the wires correctly

Red clamp = positive (+): Connect it to the positive terminal of the car battery.

Black clamp = negative (-): Connect it to an unpainted metal surface on the car (such as the engine block). Never connect it directly to the negative terminal of the battery.

5. Start your car

Turn on the jump starter and try to start your car. This may take several seconds. If it still doesn't start after 2-3 attempts, stop and wait. Do not try again.

6. Disconnect in the correct order.

After the car starts, turn off the jump starter power and remove the clamps in reverse order:

Remove the black clamp first.

Then remove the red clamp.

7. Charge the car jump starter.

After use, be sure to charge the jump starter so it can be used in the next emergency.
